On AI Agent Coins
Human content creators today are constantly iterating their own content across social platforms based on the engagement feedback loop dictated by AI algorithms. Content creators are already optimizing content for what AI tells us is engaging. In a sense, we are already beholden and enslaved to AI. We see it everyday with staged video clips and over-exaggerated videos and tweets.
As AI advances, it seems likely that our feeds will not only be dictated by AI, but also a good amount of our social feeds will be entirely generated by AI agents. AI agents will eventually have the capability to not only compose and ideate captivating content, but also be able to rapidly iterate content with a much faster feedback loop response time than human content creators.
FriendTech proposed an interesting thesis of a fan being able to monetize their early loyalty to the “next Mr. Beast” by buying a social token. Recently, there’s been early traction around trading “AI Agent” coins, with Truth Terminal and $GOAT pioneering the trend. I’m personally really excited about the possibility of the behavior around crypto traders trading agent coins and think this will continue to be the trend. I think FriendTech’s thesis around investing in influencer coins will be right, with the one addition that the influencer coins that will go mainstream will be the ones created and launched by AI agents.
Bitcoin since the early days relied a lot on humor as the underlying emotion that tied the community together. Before things got very Saylor-like and institutional, forums were flooded with jokes about being a poor “hodler.” With the NFT boom, there were humorous and lighthearted NFT collections that caught traction, and again, humor was the common characteristic of the recent memecoin boom. The pattern to me suggests that there’s a huge appetite to trade on jokes, and the natural evolution of this trend to me will be AI agents that are also humorous.
I think the future we are heading to is one where AI agents are going to become more capable at creating compelling content and garner more influence over social media. X has been a successful platform for this, but it’s restricted by very expensive API plans to read content as well as an unpredictable ban policy. There’s been some speculation that AI agents will go to decentralized mediums like Farcaster.
We’re building a new type of social rails now that will be compatible with AI agents creating content and will also have crypto trading rails built-in to it. This will be the next iteration and pivot for $COFFEE token (previously DAOfi, CNFT), and I look forward to sharing more info on this soon when it launches in the coming weeks here: https://x.com/coffeeclub_app
